This is the typical Viking sword used by Nordic raiders in the late 1st and early second millenniums. The blade is broad and heavy, favouring a slashing fighting style from a sturdily-built muscular warrior. The single broad fuller gives some balance to the blade. The tang is small, again typical of Viking weapons. The grip is of wood and covered with leather.
