One of the most famous British light cavalry swords is the 1796 Pattern Light Cavalry Sabre. This sword was designed by Captain John Gaspard Le Marchant and was extensively used during the Napoleonic Wars, particularly in the Peninsular War and at the Battle of Waterloo. The sword was favored for its effectiveness in cavalry charges and close combat.
